This weekend was amazing. I hopped in my car and took a little road trip to Monterey. The weather was perfect. The scenery was perfect. And the people? You guessed it.
Perfect.

Me and my new pea coat. This makes twenty-two in my closet. I clearly have an addiction.

Another perfect sunset at my favorite beach.
My sister-in-law and brother-in-law fed me copious amounts of good food like these amazing enchiladas. Truth be told, I'm elated they don't own a scale.
We also ate at my favorite restaurant in Monterey, Cannery Row Brewing Company. Get the Cowboy Burger. Don't question it. Just do it.
And I got to spend time with this little boy. His favorite person is Mr. Branflake, but I feel like I'm slowly edging him out. (Hey, that's what happens when you live on the other side of the country!)

I have no idea what's going on with my hair. Let's all just focus on my nephew's adorable face, shall we?
She's done with all her chemo treatments, although she's not quite out of the woods yet as her white blood count is still under the normal level. But, as always, she's in good spirits and I was grateful to spend a small bit of my weekend with her.

Taken at Cannery Row. Crickey, I'm going to miss this place.
On Saturday, I went to San Jose to for a family birthday party and all I could sing on the way there was, "Do you know the way to San Jose? La-la-la-la-laaaaaa!" And then that movie My Best Friend's Wedding constantly played in my head, especially the part when her and her best friend are slow dancing on the boat as he sings to her The Way You Look Tonight. (Fist bump swoon to unrequited love).
How was your weekend?
Anyone else love My Best Friend's Wedding?
Or pea coats?

It must be lonely without your hubs, I'm glad you have family and friends around you.
I literally just watched that movie this past week. On valentine's day, in fact! One of my favorites!
Glad you had a great weekend and cute pea coat! :)

Keeping your mom in my thoughts hon. For lack of a classier way to phrase it, cancer really blows.
My weekend was decent. Watched WAY too many movies lol.
Oh boy, your new coat is so pretty and it sounds like you had a fantastic weekend, indeed. Happy Monday, darling. Have a great day, xo
Love love love My Best Friend's Wedding. And in place of pea coats, my closet is full of little shrunken blazers and asymmetrical zippy things. I understand addiction. Sounds like a fab weekend.
Food looks amazing, beautiful beach, and adorable little boy :) That's great your mom's chemo is finished. My mother-in-law went through that a couple of years ago... what a tough thing but wonderful that such medical advances exist!
Beautiful photos!
So jealous!

LOVE My Best Friend's Wedding!!! "Wishin' and hopin' and thinkin' and dreamin'..." I watch that movie in my mide ALL the time!
Oh and Pea Coats - let me tell you - I only have 3 (Black, Brown and Red). But I love them. Not much use for them in PHX...but I love them.
Story about 1st Pea Coat: I was in college and really wanted a pea coat to wear to night classes and finally have a grown up jacket instead of my puma zip-up. I searched and searched for a whole year! I was hoping to get one on clearance in the summer - but I just couldn't find one I loved for under $100 and that did not fit in my college student budget.
Well Christmas came and I opened a gift from my mom and it was a beautiful black pea coat. I started balling immediately. I hadn't even touched it or lifted all the tissue paper away. My brother in law looked around and asked, "Why is she crying? Is it weirding anyone else out that she is crying?" But, my mom and sister were tearing up too. Never has a gift caused me to react that way. It was a combination of joy and love. I was not even expecting it form my mom, because I hadn't asked her for it.
Anyway, needless to say - i share your love of pea coats.
watch it in my *mind all the time.
sounds like an amazing weekend! love your coat, and love that you have so many! sending positive thoughts your family's way!
